I'd be lying, if I'd say I had ever heard of Lenny Bruce before. This is therefore an introduction, and what an introduction! This film is a masterpiece, and I am not be known for using that word lightly! Smart structure, sharp editing. Sweat and grit oozing out of every scenes. A Sticky Jazz score. Stand out performances, (Excuse the pun), by both Hoffman and Perrine. A regret perhaps, the somewhat hurried ending. Even though the last frame says everything. An extremely insightful opus and as a biopic, it is, perhaps even, peerless.
