 Critique SCARECROW (1973)

I had a good, if rather vague memory of this movie. After watching again, I believe this piece belongs to the anthology
of cinema for 2 things and 2 things alone : The marvelous performances of its two main actors and the stunning photography of Vilmos Zsigmond. Manu is right to point out that Hackman has never been better and Pacino is equally
brilliant. Zsigmond keenly captures the wild beauty of the American landscape. On the other hand, if the minimalist plot is not a problem, the script is rather weak in the way that some situations feel forced and unnatural. And even if the scenes were that happens stand fine on their own, they tend to clash rather than fit with the resolutely moody atmosphere of the movie. Nevertheless this is a classic in its own right.
